True and complete education is key, as Martin Luther King said, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” He also wisely stated that “The complete education gives one not only the power of concentration, but worthy objectives upon which to concentrate.” I agree with him.

I believe we can do better. Teachers are our heroes and are in many ways bound by regulations that prevent them from teaching. The current $18,000 – $20,000 per child per school year granted from our tax contributions in our public school system should be accessible for parents to direct when choosing a different learning model for their children. Many thousands of students have left public school across the state this year and would likely agree. Our communities would be well served to have their tax funds follow the student. I will advocate and legislate for healthy learning models, and that the education funding and freedom remain in the hands of the parent and be free to follow the student without discrimination. The quality of our Children’s education seems to be going down in many areas of the state while budgets increase. Resource options need to be available and accessible for parents to direct.
